Advanced Dental Education Programs

The School of Dentistry offers multiple advanced dental education programs in the following eight (8) disciplines of study as well as three (3) programs with a dual-major option leading to the award of a professional certificate. Most programs offer an optional Master of Science (MS) degree or a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree:

  • Endodontics
    • 27-month certificate program

      • Externship available (minimum of 3 months of study)
      • Internship available (1 year in length)
      • Fellowship available (1 year in length for ADA recognized specialists only)
         
  • Implant Dentistry
    • 36-month certificate program

      • Externship available (less than 12 months of study)
      • Internship available (1 year in length)
      • Fellowship available (1 year in length and for ADA recognized specialists only)
      • Practicum program available (1-2 years in length and for general dentists)
          
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
    • 6-year OMFS/MD program combined with the School of Medicine
    • 4-year certificate program
  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
    • 27-month certificate program

Two Master's Degree Tracks Offered*

The School of Dentistry offers two graduate degree options for graduate students/residents enrolled in a certificate program: the Master of Science (MS) degree in conjunction with the Faculty of Graduate Studies or the Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree administered by the School of Dentistry.

*Note: The MSD degree is not available to students in the Advanced Dental Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
