The Division of Continuing Dental Education and the Department of Endodontics co-sponsored a two-day hands-on instrumentation and obturation course on Sunday and Monday, January 15 and 16, 2012. One hundred forty participants listened to presentations comparing and contrasting the systems of Coltene Whaledent, Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, SybronEndo and Ultradent Products, receiving evidenced-based material that reviewed the effectiveness of each product. Course directors Robert Handysides, SD’93, PG’01, chair, Department of Endodontics, and Mahmoud Torabinejad, DMD, MSD, PhD, director, Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics, presented lectures that laid the foundation for the past, present, and future of endodontic instrumentation.
Monday’s hands-on workshop had 52 dentists working with each company’s system, providing a unique opportunity for the practitioners to experience the differences using extracted teeth and plastic blocks.
