Legislative fellowship sends Gregory Olson to Capitol Hill

Gregory Olson, DDS’96, MS’11, assistant professor, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics; Department of Pediatric Dentistry; and Oral Diagnosis, Radiology, and Pathology, has been awarded the 2015 ADEA/Sunstar Americas, Inc./Harry W. Bruce, Jr. Legislative Fellowship.
 

Graham Stacey consolidates administrative functions

The administrative duties of D. Graham Stacey, PhD, have been expanded to match his new title, associate dean, Office of Admissions and Student Affairs, LLU School of Dentistry.

Not long after the December 2014 retirement of Fred Kasischke, PhD, then associate dean for Admissions and Service Learning, Dean Ron Dailey, PhD, asked Dr. Stacey, PhD, associate dean for Student Affairs, to assume oversight for admissions and service learning as well.

Third time charm

Raeleen Whitt’s cancer saga began eight years ago, in January 2007. As a sixteen-year-old, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). She underwent nearly three years of chemotherapy (much of the time under hospitalization) and missed her junior and senior years of high school; nevertheless, she completed her secondary education through the Corona/Norco school district’s home/hospital program.

Murray Jacobs, DDS, assistant professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, attended the 15th Annual AAOMS Day on Capitol Hill, organized by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons that took place March 17-18, 2015, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C.
 

LLUSD researchers take Boston

Just days after the grand opening of the large and pristine addition to LLU School of Dentistry’s Center for Dental Research (CDR), a significant contingent of four student and twelve faculty researchers from the School and its CDR, led by Yiming Li, DDS, PhD, MS, associate dean for Research, assembled at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood (March 8-14) to display posters and make oral presentations at the IADR/AADR/CADR annual meetings.
 

Student Research Winners to present at ADEA, IADR, CDA, and CDHA

Attendees of the 55th School of Dentistry Alumni Student Convention at the Loma Linda University Centennial Complex enjoyed the opportunity, Thursday, February 5, of witnessing the annual research project presentations initiated months earlier by third year dental students and senior dental hygiene students under the guidance of faculty mentors. Alumni had the opportunity not only to be reminded of their own table clinic experiences but also to acquire continuing education credits by viewing all the student research presentations and completing the table clinic questionnaire.
 

Susan Roche honored with AHS Fellowship

Susan Roche, DDS’93, MS, MA, associate professor, Department of Oral Diagnosis, Radiology and Pathology, was elected as a Fellow of the American Headache Society (AHS) at the Society’s annual symposium, November 2014, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
