For two consecutive years (and three of the last six), each member of the graduating classes of the LLUSD International Dentistry Program has passed either the Western Regional Exam Board (WREB) or the North East Regional Board (NERB) on their first attempt.

Steven G. Morrow, DDS’60, MS, assistant dean, Office of Advanced Education, and professor, Department of Endodontics, assumed the office of president, Dental Board of California, on January 1, 2016.
Appointed to the Dental Board by then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, Dr. Morrow was elected secretary of the Dental Board in 2013.
LLU School of Dentistry faculty members Susan Richards, DDS’84, associate professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Carlos Moretta, DDS’01, assistant professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, were among speakers who lectured at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital’s annual International Academic Week, November 5-6, 2015. More than 100 dentists from various hospitals and private practices attended lectures by Dr. Richards on clinical diagnosis of odontogenic cysts and tumors and by Dr. Moretta who addressed oral surgical procedures.

Heidi Kohltfarber, DDS’03, MS, has been away from her alma mater since June 2009—initially, to pursue a master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial radiology at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, and then to shuttle between Chapel Hill and King’s College in London, England, for a joint venture PhD in oral and maxillofacial radiology.

The School of Dentistry’s Office of Development is very pleased to welcome Kimberly M. LaBelle as its new development coordinator.
Beyond making sense of the Office of Development, tracking its donor gifts, and scheduling its travel, Ms. LaBelle will be in charge of its various philanthropic events, annual giving roster, and related projects.
Steven Powell, DDS'87, is a newly appointed assistant professor in the School of Dentistry’s new Division of General Dentistry.
For the past 28 years Dr. Powell has operated a dental practice devoted to health that includes comprehensive restorative and cosmetic dental procedures. The practice is located in Okemos, Michigan, bordering the East Lansing campus of Michigan State University.
LLUSD student teams with Smile Train and Ironman Arizona to provide cleft lip/palate surgeries to underprivileged children
Brandon Soelberg is a fourth year LLU School of Dentistry student who treats his doctor of dental surgery training as preparation for an oral and facial surgery residency. He is simultaneously training for the November 15, 2015, Arizona IRONMAN competition in Tempe—2.4-mile open water swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile run.
