Margie Arnett, MS, assistant professor, Dental Education Services, was named 2013-14 chair of the American Dental Education Association’s Substance Abuse, Addictions and Tobacco-Dependence Education Section in March at the ADEA annual meetings in Seattle, Washington.
This past year the Tobacco Free Initiatives Special Interest Group (SIG) leadership team comprised of Laura Romito, DDS, MS, associate professor of Oral Biology, director, Nicotine Dependence Program, Indiana University School of Dentistry; Margie Arnett; and Sara Gordon, DDS, MS, associate professor and director, Oral Pathology Biopsy Service, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry applied for section status.
ADEA recommended the status change from Special Interest Group to Section, and its House of Delegates concurred by unanimously passing resolution 7H2023.
