Jaime L. Lozada, DDS
Dr. Jaime Lozada is professor and director of the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry and professor at Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. He completed his residency in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1987 and his graduate prosthodontics certificate in 1995 from the same university. Since the completion of both of his discipline certificates, Dr. Lozada has been instrumental in training residents and fellows in the latest techniques in oral implant surgery and prosthodontics at the Graduate Program and the Center for Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry. Since its beginning 31 years ago, Loma Linda University Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry and Implant Dentistry Center is recognized as one of the pioneering institutions in Implant Dentistry and prides itself in aiding in the advancement of this exciting discipline of dentistry.
Dr. Lozada has been involved with Implant Dentistry for over 20 years and has published and lectured nationally and internationally on Implant Dentistry. He maintains a faculty practice limited to Implant Dentistry and Prosthodontics. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Implant Dentistry, past president of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Oral Implantology.
Mathew T. Kattadiyil, BDS, MDS, MS
Dr. Mathew T. Kattadiyil received his BDS degree from the College of Dental Surgery, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, India in 1989. He completed his Masters in Dental Science (MDS) in Prosthodontics from the College of Dental Surgery, KMC, Manipal in 1992. He began full-time teaching in the Department of Prosthodontics at the College of Dental Surgery, KMC, Manipal, India in 1992.
In 1997, he received the professional certificate in Prosthodontics from the School of Dentistry and in 1999 earned his Master of Science (MS) degree from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California. In 2012, Dr. Kattadiyil was awarded the ‘Educator of the Year’ by the American College of Prosthodontists. He has lectured nationally and internationally. In addition to authoring multiple publications, text book and eBook chapters, he is also the co-author of the of the electronic program ‘Optimizing success with complete dentures’ prepared by Loma Linda University, 2013.
Dr. Kattadiyil is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is currently the Professor and Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University.
He has been a full-time faculty member at Loma Linda University since 1999 and limits his practice to Prosthodontics.
Aladdin Al-Ardah, BDS, MS
Dr. Aladdin Al-Ardah is an Associate Professor in the Advanced Education Program in Implant Dentistry and the Coordinator of the Internship/ Externship Program in Implant dentistry at Loma Linda University.
He completed his 3-year full time residency in Implant Dentistry in 2004 and obtained his MS. Degree. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Implantology/ Implant Dentistry, Honored Fellow and Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Aladdin enjoys the fields of advanced implant surgery, bone regeneration and implant prosthetics. He has trained residents and fellows in the latest techniques in oral implant surgery and implant prosthodontics at the Center for Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University.
Dr. Aladdin has a patent related to a surgical technique for harvesting autogenous bone, lectures nationally and internationally, published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored implant related chapters in multiple books
Ryan Becker, DDS
Dr. Ryan Becker received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2015. He is currently an Assistant Professor of the Advanced Education program in Prosthodontic Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
Nicholas Caplanis, DMD, MS
Dr. Caplanis is an Assistant Professor and part-time faculty within the Graduate Program in Implant Dentistry, at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He completed a three year residency in Implant Dentistry in 1995, received his Masters of Science Degree in Oral Implantology in 1996 and earned a specialty Certificate in Periodontics in 1997. Dr. Caplanis has an extremely unique background with formal residency training in the inter-related fields of Implant surgery, Prosthodontics and Periodontics.
Dr. Caplanis is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and American Board of Oral Implantology. He is an honored fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is well published and has lectured nationally as well as internationally, while maintaining a full-time private practice limited to periodontics and dental implant surgery, in Mission Viejo, California.
Matteo Chiapasco, MD
Dr. Matteo Chiapasco is Head and Chairman, Unit of Oral Surgery in the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry at the University of Milano, Italy. He is also Professor in Oral Surgery, Faculty member of the Specialties in Oral surgery and Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Head Master in Oral Surgery and Implantology, Unite of Oral Surgery in the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry at the University of Milano, Italy. He obtained his degree at the University of Milano, Italy in 1984 and received his degree of specialist in maxillo-facial surgery in 1990.
His main fields of interest are oral and maxillo-facial surgery, with particular attention to advanced preprosthetic surgery (reconstructions for severe atrophy, tumor defects, trauma sequelae, congenital malformations, distraction osteogenesis) and is an international lecturer on these topics.
He is the author or co-author of approximately 80 papers published on peer-reviewed international journals and approximately 100 papers published in Italian Journals. He is the author or co-author of 10 textbooks related to oral and maxillofacial surgery, some of them published in English and/or translated in several other languages (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese).
Christopher Church, MD
Christopher Church, MD is residency director and Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Loma Linda University. He has been director of the Loma Linda University Sinus & Allergy Center since 2002. His main clinical and research interests are in diseases of the paranasal sinuses, particularly chronic sinusitis. He lives in Redlands with his wife and two teenage children.
Antoanela Garbacea, DDS, MSD
She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics She completed a Dual Major Residency Program in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University. She obtained a Master of Science in Dentistry degree from the same university. She is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a Member of American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and a member of American and California Dental Associations. Dr. Garbacea received her DDS degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy, School of Dentistry in Romania. Currently she is a faculty member in the Restorative Department in Loma Linda University and has published scientific articles in dental journals and chapters in books related to prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Dr Garbacea’s private practice is limited to prosthodontics, implant dentistry and management of complex patient situations.
Brian Goodacre, DDS, MSD
Dr. Brian J. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2013. He completed a four-and-a-half-year combined program in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2017, earning an MSD degree. He is currently an assistant professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
S. Shankar Iyer, DDS, MDS
Dr. Iyer graduated with honors from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1994 and went on to pursue graduate studies in Prosthodontics from the same University. He taught as a clinical Assistant Professor for several years at NYU’s department of Post Graduate Prosthodontics. Currently he holds two appointments in the departments of Periodontics and Prosthodontics at Rutgers’ University Dental School, New Jersey.
Dr. Iyer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He has lectured in over 30 countries and presented at over 100 symposia in Implant Dentistry and Prosthodontics. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and mentors graduate residents to present posters and table clinics. Dr. Iyer is uniquely qualified to perform both the surgical and restorative phases of implant dentistry. His patients come from all over the world and he has maintained his patient base for over 20 years.
Besides teaching and treating dentists in the United States, Dr. Iyer has taught and trained over 3000 dentists from around the world. He is the Director of the prestigious AAID Implant Maxicourse held in Asia with centers in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, New Delhi, Bangalore and Sri Lanka. He co-directs these courses in Las Vegas and at Rutgers, New Jersey. Dr. Iyer was inducted as a Fellow in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and has Fellowships in reputed organizations such as the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontists, and the Dental Facial Esthetics Academy. Patients attest to Dr. Iyer’s skills and abilities due to his objective approaches in treatment planning. “America’s Top Dentists” is an award that Dr. Iyer consistently receives from the Consumer Research Council of America.
Rami Jekki, DDS, MS
Dr. Rami Jekki graduated from Loma Linda University International Dentist Program in 2006. Dr. Jekki then completed the advanced specialty education program in prosthodontics and earned his Master of Science (MS) degree in prosthodontics in 2009.
In 2017, Dr. Jekki was appointed as the Associate Program Director in the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics.
Dr. Jekki is course director for topics on removable and implant dentistry in the international dentist program and co-course director on the topic of occlusion in the graduate prosthodontics program. In addition to teaching multiple courses, Dr. Jekki devotes his time in the clinical instruction of pre-doctoral and graduate prosthodontics students.
Christian W. Johnston, Esq.
Christian W. Johnston is an attorney licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of California and the United States District Courts in California. A graduate of La Sierra University (B.A., summa cum laude) and Pepperdine University (J.D., magna cum laude), Mr. Johnston currently serves as Associate General Counsel for the various Loma Linda University entities, including hospitals, physician practice groups, and a health sciences university. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Johnston has devoted significant attention to advising physicians, dentists, nurses and allied health professionals with respect to malpractice liability. Previously, Mr. Johnston provided claims and litigation management services as a risk manager. Mr. Johnston has also engaged in the private practice of law, where he has provided a full range of legal services to individual, corporate and government clients.
Joseph Kan, DDS, MS
Dr. Kan completed Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He is a Professor and maintains a private practice. He is on the Editorial Board of The International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and The European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Kan honors include the 1997 Best Research Award from the Academy of Osseointegration, and the 2003 Judson Hinckey Award from the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
Heidi Kohltfarber, DDS, MS, PhD
Dr. Heidi Bridget Kohltfarber is the owner and managing oral and maxillofacial radiologist for Dental Radiology Diagnostics and a Dentsply Sirona 3D trainer. In addition, she is an adjunct professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a faculty member from 2003-2018 at Loma Linda University. She received her D.D.S. degree from Loma Linda University in 2003 and in 2012 she received her master's degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her master's research compared 2D versus 3D radiography in the treatment planning of root canal treated teeth with apical radiolucencies. In 2017, Dr. Kohltfarber received her PhD in Diagnostic Imaging with an emphasis in craniofacial radiology from King's College London focusing on the Validation and Diagnostic Efficacy of 3D Surface Models in Dentistry: Temporomandibular Joints.
Michael Mashni, DDS
Michael Mashni graduated from Loma Linda University in 1992 then entered the Dental Anesthesiology Residency immediately upon graduation. After completing his certificate in Dental Anesthesiology he became a full time faculty in the Department of Dental Anesthesiology at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry for 7 years before transitioning to private practice providing anesthesia services for dentists in the community concentrating on pediatric patients. He remained as volunteer faculty for another 7 years. He has lectured nationally at several major meetings on the topics of sedation, general anesthesia, pharmacology and emergencies. He is a diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and has served on the Board of Directors for both the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologist (ASDA) and the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology (ADBA). He is currently Immediate Past President of the ASDA.

James L. Rutkowski, DMD, PhD
James L. Rutkowski D.M.D., PhD. is a Pharmacist, Dentist, and has earned a PhD. in Pharmacology. He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbook chapters. Jim is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral Implantology (JOI) and a Diplomate/Past-President of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID). He lectures nationally and internationally on medical urgencies and emergencies, pharmacology, sedation techniques, and bone grafting as it applies to the dental practice.
Dr. Rutkowski maintains a reconstructive general dental practice in Clarion, Pennsylvania with a concentration on implantology and treating apprehensive/medically-compromised patients.
Eric Sahl, DDS, MSD
Dr. Sahl has placed hundreds of dental implants and performed hundreds of periodontal surgeries and soft tissue grafts, and is also an Associate Professor at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Department of Advanced Periodontics, where he teaches and mentors students who are specializing in Periodontics. In April of 2015, Dr. Sahl was appointed the Program Director for the Advanced Specialty Education in Periodontics Residency Program at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Dr. Sahl is a published author in the realm of periodontal bacteria and the treatment and diagnosis of periodontal disease progression, as well as a contributor to a new textbook on endodontic surgery. Most recently, he has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry for original research involving digitally guided implant surgery. He is currently involved in several clinical and basic science research projects at the School of Dentistry, namely evaluating the precision and accuracy of dental implant surgical guide fabrication.
Dr. Sahl is also an active lecturer for numerous Continuing Dental Education courses, most notably recently lecturing for the American Academy of Periodontology at the annual meeting, as well as for other local societies such as the California Society of Periodontists and the Tri-County Dental Society.
Dr. Sahl is an active member of the California Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Tri-County Dental Society, and the Academy of Osseointegration.

Rajesh Swamidass, DDS, MSD
Dr. Swamidass received his DDS degree from LLUSD in 2013. He completed a four-and-a-half-year combined program in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2017, earning an MSD degree. He practices at two prosthodontics offices in Rancho Mirage and Corona California.
Chandur P. Wadhwani, DDS, MSD
Dr. Wadhwani received his undergraduate and dental degree from the University College London School of Dentistry in 1986. He graduated top of his class and was awarded honors and distinction in Dental Surgery. Dr. Wadhwani lectured at the Dental School in London as a part time clinical lecturer in the restoration department for many years. He received his specialty certificate in Prosthodontics as well as a Masters Degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Wadhwani is an affiliate instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Washington and has a full time specialty practice (Prosthodontics) in Bellevue, Washington.
Dr. Wadhwani is past president of the Washington State Society of Prosthodontists. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on topics related to clinical prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Dr. Wadhwani is the primary author of over twenty implant related articles in peer reviewed dental journals such as the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Int. Journal of Oral-Facial Implants, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, British Dental Journal, Dentistry Today and others.
Dr. Wadhwani has lectured for the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American Academy of Periodontology, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American Prosthodontic Society, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry as well as other Academies in the United States.
