AM Lecture: Myths, Hype and Other Tall Tales about Laser Dentistry
Lasers have been promoted to cure practically every dental malady known to man. From totally anesthesia free operative dentistry to drastically reducing periodontal pockets (and more), some laser companies have engaged in promoting plenty of exaggerations, misconceptions, and outright falsehoods about what lasers can actually perform. The purpose of this course is to delve through the peer- reviewed literature to demonstrate what lasers can and cannot do, and to help you select the best laser for your practice.
At the conclusion of this course, participants should expect to understand:
- What treatment lasers are capable of performing.
- What lasers cannot yet perform.
- Which laser might be the best fit for your practice.
PM Lecture: Periodontal and Peri-implantitis Tissue Regeneration
Soft and hard tissue regeneration has always been an ideal yet elusive goal when treating periodontal and peri-implant disease. This course will provide the attendee with a twelve step program to achieve laser assisted periodontal tissue regeneration. This technique is also applicable to peri-implantitis treatment. Though lasers have been used in dentistry for over 30 years, and many laser companies have made many claims about regeneration of tissue, these techniques will be proven to work via case reviews and supported by a critical review of the peer- reviewed literature.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will:
- Learn a technique for regenerating cementum, bone and fibroblast mediated soft tissue during periodontal/implant surgery.
- Discuss all of the peer reviewed literature that validates both of these techniques.
