Synopsis

Interprofessional patient care is the new buzz phrase! However, defining it and putting it into practice is sometimes confusing. Understanding our differences in terminology and assessment is crucial to understanding each profession's perspective which can only result in improved communication and collaboration. This series of case-based lectures will help clarify how interprofessionalism is changing health care and how it can be applied to clinical practice.

Objectives

  • Understand how interprofessional communication, assessment and collaboration will be changing patient care.
  • Gain a better understanding of why multidisciplinary communication, assessment and collaboration is necessary for efficient patient care.
  • Understand how to apply this new concept of interprofessional collaboration in a simulated clinical setting.
